In an effort to avoid having to do major cleaning jobs every few months, I have designated Friday as 'cleaning day'. The day when I will put away all my craft projects except one, so they stop taking over my living room -- I have a short attention span, and have a tendency to work on 5 or 6 things at a time. The laundry gets done, and all the floors swept/vaccuumed/mopped. Bathrooms cleaned. Clutter put away or tossed out...this is the important one, since I have pack-rat tendencies. :)
Also, I have been very good at putting clothes away right off, instead of dumping things into a pile and 'fishing' for outfits. Also, putting dishes away once they are dried instead of leaving in the drainer until the next time I want to use it. My place has stayed clean since Christmas, so far.
Seriously, I have to make it a habit to say a little tidier. If I'm going to have a cat around, I don't want things shredded/broken because I didn't put them away properly! It's really just laziness on my part, and if I just put a few minutes into it daily, and like an hour on Fridays, I should be able to keep it under control.
