(I don't have a nifty red-and-white-striped sweater and hat, so it doesn't really hold water, but I like the subject line anyway)
So, what has Lissa been up to?
On November 17th, the Dragon and I moved to Ithaca, NY, for what we'll call job-related reasons; it's close enough. We're on Day 1 of Week 9 now of our time in the land of... um... gorges?
The first month was pretty much a wash. The time before the move and the time getting settled killed my creativity, and the elevation changes played havoc with both our bodies, so pretty much we worked, ate, slept. We did a little exploration, but the weather kept sliding between horrid and unseasonably warm, so not really a whole lot of such.
We found the equivalents of many of our favorite Rochester shopping places, except the cheesemonger. We've yet to find a really good cheesemonger. Or something like Stever's - real chocolate, made right in the store.
We've had company quite a bit, which I love. I miss my people, my friends, my nest, more than I thought possible. It's almost embarrassing. I find myself getting needier, lonelier.
Dragon is going to join WoW or DDO or something for companionship; I'm going to take a knitting class. We deal with it in our own little ways.
In the meanwhile, our car has sprung an invisible leak, pretty much trapping us in Ithaca until we can save up for a new car. She's drive-able for short distances - 20 to 30 minutes, tops. Not the 2 hours it takes to get "home."
That's about it.
I write, aiming for 750 words a day but we'll see.
I knit... and I'm seriously contemplating sewing again.
And I've been using the "gym" (treadmills & elliptical machines) at the apartment center thingy every day this week, and walking outside when the weather permits! Goals abound (I want to be skinny and published by July!)
