If you haven't read Zen and the Art of Writing by Ray Bradbury, I can reccomend it.
He made the same realization about his book Farenheit 451. He named a character Farber- it was the brand of pencils he used while editing. Other characters had names he'd subconciously grabbed from various office supplies.
