The question:
When you knit or crochet dishcloths, washcloths or face clothes, what do you use? What size needle or hook? Wood? what type? Metal? Plastic? A specific Brand? Why do you love that needle or hook so much? Is there one you are dying to try? Is there a particular yarn you love and use all the time for clothes? What is so special about it?

The Answer:
Well, I'm new to this (how many times do you think I'll say that before this swap is over?)... but so far I've been knitting dishcloths, though I think the difference is, at least in part, end use, and I'm thinking of trying some facecloths soon.

I use my overworked Boye size 7 aluminum needles (has anyone else ever worn the edges by the point down to bare metal?), because when I started knitting, Boyes looked like knitting needles should look to me. They come in yummy colors and move smoothly with the yarn... I like the feel of the one set of bamboo needles I have better, but the points are way too dull. Even the Boyes are a little dull.

I've used Sugar N' Cream & Lion Cotton, and prefer Sugar N' Creme, but I'm wanting to move on to handtowels (fingertip towels?), and want to try something finer for that. SNC & Lion are locally available, cheap, way absorbent, and I can often get them in decent colours... plus, while it's not Blue Sky Organic Cotton, it knits up smoothly.

I'm dying to try... well. CotLin, maybe some of the Rowan cottons. Really, what I'm dying to try is anything smoother than dishcloth cotton, but still full of cottony goodness. And I really, really want to try hardwood needles with a good, sharp point.

Anyone else feel greedy answering these questions?
