Ow, ow, ow.. That was fun!
That's what I get a lot when the Dragon & I go hiking with Wade-and-sometimes-DanDan... it's just a little more heightened this time.
We went to
Clark's Gully, which I would never have thought I could do if we hadn't done
Grime's Glen twice... both of which I was sort of prepared for by having gone to
StonyBrook Park a lot as a kid.
Well, okay, not really prepared at all, except knowing how to walk on wet rocks.
There was a lot of climbing, and, while there weren't any parts where we used a rope, there was a long stretch of slippery hillside where a rope would have been really helpful. I am bruised, battered, and scraped.
And thrilled. I love, love, love walking in creeks, though I wish it were just a little nicer out, so I could splash in the water. I loved looking out over the glen at the breathtaking view. I loved being in the woods, just walking, no-one but Dragon & Wade around. And I love the aching feeling in my shoulders and knees and hips and paws now... that means I was out doing something active. Our bodies are built to feel happier when moving... and I ignore that farr too frequently.
Really wish I had a camera. Someday I will have a digital camera.
For now... I have acorn squash cooking in the oven, a "root soup" (turnips, carrots, celery, not sure what else the Dragon put in it) on the stove, butternut soup planned for tomorrow (
abjuk? (
eamclaren? Do you use a recipe?), swordfish and blintzes also planned for tonight (we skipped lunch).. and I am one happy camper.
