Need Advice: Books!
I need, in the next month of free time, to study up on the history of the British Isles from (and the rough approximations show about how little I know about history) 450 A.D. through the end of the colonial era (wow, that's a long span of history to read up on in a month!), and the history of North America from the time of Columbus' explorations (or earlier) through modern day.
What books can you recommend, not as easy reads, but as concise and clear books, textbooks or otherwise, on any portion of this history?
