It is all one trip, though a lengthy one. I made all of that with the exception of Ireland (no money to get off the bigger island) in bits and peices over the course of nine months. Of course, I was studying computer science at the time as well... I'll stop now- I'm known for talking a lot and the time in England is a subject that I blather even more about. Suffice it to say you have excellent taste in travel destinations.
Darkover is one of those series which I could never quite get all of the books in one place or an orer for reading them. I care about that sort of thing. I do love the magazine she put out, and currently have most of it thanks to a dear friend. The rest I shall have to Ebay or something.
Black Jewels is not a surprise. I went from being up at noon on Sunday to being up at 4:15 because I felt the need to skim/read/devour two thirds of the last book. If that gmae of yours ever occurs, let me know.
Tanya Huff- have you read her Summon the Keeper series? Three books so far, and very light-hearted, funny, and good. I have Assasin Fantastic and picked up Fifth Quarter because of it- now I just need to find the rest of the quarter books and read them all.

Agreed, Wales you can do a good job of in a week travelling, Scotland (to do fully and properly) would take several weeks, England even longer, and i've not gotten to Ireland, but i suspect you're looking at something similar to Scotland timewise.
Assuming its a limited-time trip you'd be best off concentrating on one/a couple of areas (say Wales and Central England, or Southern England, or Northern England, or Southern or Northern Scotland - Ireland i am not qualified to comment on, though i hope to go there in November i think) and actually getting to see some good stuff, rather than coming back feeling like you didn't really see anything.

I also have a couple e-friends in England, so it seemed a reasonable place to go.
Darkover: there's two ways to do it - chronologically, or in the order they were written. I'd go for the order they were written, myself, but if you want to go chronologically, I have the first and the last, a couple in between, and a stop at the used book store will get you started on the rest for under $20.
Mmmm.. Black Jewels. It would be a trick to do: I'm seeing doing, maybe, a queen's court, with the Queen and her first circle (or just the Queen and her Consort) being NPC's. Before, during, or after Dorotea?
I haven't read the Summon the Keeper series, just the four Quaters series. Have you read Robin Hobb's Assasin series?
