Heading Home

After many worries about what Andy and I would do over mid-quarter break, I decided that I really wanted to go home to see friends and family. Andy decided he wanted to stay, relax, and visit Sean in Oroville.

On thursday, my roommate Roxy and I ditched a few classes (ahhh!) and left for socal. The drive was 6 hrs. and 45 minutes...even in the rain.

Upon arrival, my mom took the two of us to Chipotle. We debated going to Penguins after eating, but it was too cold. Instead, I came up with the idea of making apple crisp because my mom bought a whole batch of apples that day. After many laughs and a few dumb mistakes, we enjoyed our warm apple crisp, rented movies, and watched Amadeus in the theater downstairs. Once I got passed the fact that it is quite inaccurate, I loved it. I must say though, Mozart was quite an annoying character in the movie.

On Friday morning, Roxy and I drove to La Sierra. It was so nice to see friends and I was very nostalgic...especially when I sang with Chamber Singers. The music department at LSU truly is awesome. :) Taryn gave me a bassoon reed which is working beautifully as well. Sweet! After chilling in the lounge for a while, Roxy, Taryn and I randomly decided to go see a movie and go to the mall. I love those spurr of the moment activities. We ended up seeing Bride Wars. It was rather dumb...but surprisingly entertaining and cute! :) Definitely a chic movie, though. Andy was quite glad he was not there to be dragged into the theater. haha.

After shopping at H&M, Taryn and I went to a bell choir rehearsal. I enjoyed it very much...well, except for when the director would hit my music when I messed up. LOL! Come to find out, he used to be the music director at Vallejo. Cool!

After bells, I hung out with Taryn for awhile in her apartment, and then headed to vespers. Jenn came to visit me which was FABULOUS! We ended up staying over an hour after the service chatting. :) Finally, Roxy and I headed back home, arriving at almost midnight.

The next morning, Roxy took the car to go back to LSU church, and I went to Glendale City to sing in the choir with Mrs. mohr. I can't believe that Smutts van Rooyen is going to be the new pastor there! That was a surprise.... I loved choir as always. Mrs. Mohr is THE BEST choral director I've ever had. :) Hands down. After the service, Jeremy Morada took me back to Vallejo to meet my mom there, and then I went to Andy's family's house for lunch. Pa, Mirita, Donna, Nati, Antonella, the quintanas, and other Opus 7 members were at the house. It was a bit of a Spanish overload, but it was good for me. I really enjoyed spending time with Donna and Nati. :) Cool people. :) We discussed the tragedy in Argentina where the government would take people in Universities or other educated people, and they would go missing. Later, they were found dead in rivers, streams, or somewhere else. And this was the government! So corrupt and horrible. :/

After leaving Andy's house, maddie came over and we talked for many hours, ordered pizza, and watched yet another movie--Miss Pettigrew. I would give it a 3 1/2 out of 5. It was cute...but kind of slow and typical. She ended up staying pretty late until Phil picked her up. (Her car completely broke down). After she left, Andy and I had a long and wonderful conversation on the phone. :) We both had exciting days and full days to talk about. This weekend brought me back to the experience that we had when I was at LSU and he was at PUC. I missed him, and was SO excited to talk on the phone with him! Giddy even! Time apart can be really good for relationships. :) As weird as it seems....at least to me...it's good. I love him!

On Sunday, Roxy and I had breakfast with my parents, and I got to see my brothers and Jessica who came by the house. We were going to go see my grandma, but dad got sick and didn't want to spread his virus. Paul showed me some pretty cool ipod touch games and downloaded a few onto my ipod. At around 12:30, Roxy and I packed up the car and left. We picked up Jill Umali on the way. 7 hours later, we were back at PUC...EXHAUSED. :)
