wow, a post (aren´t i profound?)

Yeah, so I have decided it might be nice if I posted every once in awhile just so people know what´s up with me in between my infrequent e-mails and *very* infrequent letters. Not that i will catch you up on the last two months - just on the stuff that is going on right now.

Had a good weekend, to make up for the weekend before when I did nothing except work on my poli sci paper and watch bad television. Highlight of the weekend was calling denise - so nice to hear from her, even for a short time. Miss being able to use the phone whenever I want. On Friday went to two art exhibits, which meant free food! Saturday night went out with three of the kids on the program to one of our favorite bars. The girls and I drank half a bottle of mezcal on the street corners before we went to the bar, trying to hide it whenever anyone walked by. Yes, we are the most pathetic girls in the entire universe. Got to the bar and rediscovered the wonder of hammocks when you are smashed. They can be so much fun! Also got a free beer by flirting with a French Canadian tourist. Was vastly amused by the look of horror on David´s (the one guy in our program) face when the gay bartender told him "I couldn´t help but notice how hot you were from across the room." My host brother Marcos walked me home, asking every five steps if i was alright. I said I was fine, then proceeded to slip ever-so-gracefully on an orange peel and completely got my jeans dirty. My talent knows no bounds.

On Sunday went to a marketplace outside of Oaxaca with some of the other people from the Institute who are not in our group. One of them looks and sounds a lot like Mater, denise. But she is married to a man who´s got to be at least 30 years her senior, so there´s a little difference in their husbands :) Flirted with the Swiss boy, who has got to be one of the most beautiful people i have ever known - tall, dark, brooding features and the most intense green eyes I have ever seen. He looked right at me yesterday and I almost dumped an entire cup of tea down my shirt. Raowr to Ramon.

I am seriously tempted to take five classes again next semester, but didn´t enjoy it much last semester, so may forgo English and instead take an education class with my favorite professor at Wellesley. For once nothing conflicts, but that means i have too many choices - there is honestly 2 anthro classes, 3 Spanish classes, and 3 English courses I´d like to take. Craziness. Oh well, I will figure it out eventually.

I have decided to stay here for our week vacation, because everyone kept changing their plans on me, and if I don´t escape from nearly everyone in the group I will have to kill them all with a machete. But in that week I will be able to do lots of research and some volunteer work, start my women´s studies and anthro finals, write at least 20 letters and cards, learn how to cook from my host mother and how to play the bongos from Seth, my host brother. Ha, let´s see if I meet any of these goals by Nov. 17th.

This weekend are los Días de los Muertos, which is my final project for anthro, so I should be mad busy. There are a shitload of obnoxious tourists here, so that will give me somebody new to bitch about with Mary, as opposed to the other people in our group. Fun, fun, fun. Well, that´s all for now, kiddies.
