My horoscope said so...

Ok, what it said was to get ideas from friends... so, here it is:

James and I have been discussing the Ultimate Dork Adventure.

We want to get an RV or tour bus that runs on diesel and can have a biodiesel converter put in (if it's not already in). We're going to decorate it in Steampunk and get a license plate that says Nimbus II (or something along those lines).

And then we want to go to a science fiction/fantasy/anime/gaming convention/renaissance festival or SCA event every weekend for a year.

Yep, that's 52 events, or maybe 50 because Lilies' War is a week long.

The plan is to sell off our furniture (all that won't fit in a medium storage unit), clothes and possessions, rent out the house for the cost of the mortgage + taxes&insurance, and live on the road. I will bring sewing machines and fabric and my pattern drafting tools and want to sell one of a kind costume pieces where I can.

We are planning to blog/video tape it and post our adventures online as we go.

Yes, I know I can't count on selling anything. I know the money situation is BAD. I know neither of us will be coming back to jobs. I know there are a few more necessary repairs on the house before we can rent it out. We are looking for ideas (other than a lottery win) to help finance this.

One of my ideas was to see if we could get gaming companies and gaming stores to sponsor us and we could paint their logo on the RV/bus plus run their ads on our website (mostly because it would be AWESOME to have a Steve Jackson Games logo on our bus).

We're also willing to haul people and their stuff to conventions and events for the cost of fuel.

I'd appreciate any ideas anyone has, even if you think they sound silly. Please- no negative comments- I can ASSURE you that my brain has come up with most every negative ten times over, and a hundred variations on each. Ideas on any part of it- from selling the furniture, to setting up a website, to what conventions and events are "don't miss" ones, to where I can get a cheap diesel RV/tour bus.

I'm going to cross post this to Myspace and Facebook also.
