Pain. Bright pain, not dark. A million million shattered diamonds, piercing every twist of the mind. Each facet throwing a bright beam, a rainbow as the light was divided into its component colors. And each shard fragmented again, the light endless. It penetrated every corner, leaving nowhere to hide.
With love, the mind had expanded, left its mortal borders, filled the universe, understood all, from the smallest to the largest. All there was, was love. The energy of the universe, nothing but love. Energy's love for itself and other parts of itself. So much love that it became matter.
This was the opposite. Rather than the mind expanding to fill the universe, this was the universe looking into the mind, seeking it, filling it, experiencing it, every darkness brought to light, every happiness brilliantly lit and exposed. Though a mind could fill the universe, the universe was not meant to fill a mind. Not while it held onto itself.
