Sad chipmunk update
I'm pretty sure the little guy is dead. The live trap hasn't been set off for a couple days and nothing's messed with the little dishes of food and water we set out.
There was a bad smell coming from the closet, so I cleaned out the whole closet last night. No chipmunk corpse. But there's still the bad smell. I'm pretty sure he crawled under the pocket doors and into the wall and died.
I'd like to get him out, but after extensively tugging on the doors, taking them off track, and trying to take at least the one off, I figured out I'd have to remove the door trim at the top completely to take the doors off. And I'm not so great at removing house pieces in a way that they can be reused afterwards. I don't want to dismantle more of my house.
For now, I'm spraying lysol into the space under the pocket door. That's actually cutting the smell tolerably.
