Ever heard of a web widget? Sure, most of you probably have, being Internet-savvy folk and all. I had no clue what one was until very recently. There are all these cool things out there that you can add to your blogs, Live Journals, MySpace pages, etc. to liven them up. The YouTube player I added yesterday is a good example. Another example is from my new addiction, the Hey!Nielsen website.
Hey!Nielsen, in a nutshell, is like crack for people who are in love with their own opinions. Of course, this is not what it says on their website. Technically, they are owned and created by the Nielsen Company, who are hooking people into giving their opinions on all sorts of pop culture things. They promise that "your opinions not only reach millions of people via the web, but may also reach the media moguls who decide what goes on the air and on the web." Now, I don't know about that, but I do know that I've only been a member since Monday, and I'm absolutely hooked. Check out some of my opinions in my handy-dandy little widget below. If you want to go see for yourself what all the fuss is about, mosey on over to
http://www.heynielsen.com. But don't say I didn't warn you.
*Just want to mention, this is the third time I've edited this post to include the widget. I add the code for the widget, I save the entry and it looks okay, then later the widget has magically disappeared. Don't know what I'm doing wrong, but clearly my widgeting disagrees with Live Journal.
