Whoooooooo! What an amazing trip. And I was thinking those were wee trees you'd bought somewhere, so - awesome! I adore those hippos. :D
I agree 100 percent that things need - and must - be remembered. But I don't think i have the stamina to go into any museum like that. It's like...when you see it, and read about it, and hear the words and experiences of the people that were there, and talk about it...it's like forcing it to happen all over again on a kind of...energy level? If you know what I mean? And I just...can't deal with that.
For instance - I've never watched Schindler's list or anything like that, because I just can't stand to see that happen, knowing it happened to real people, some of whom may still be alive. I dunno.
But I certainly do believe in museums and monuments like that (and like the one for lynching victims just opened in Alabama).
I salute your mental and spiritual (?) fortitude.
What an exhausting trip back, though! When the hell are they going to invent teleportation?!!
Once again - thank you for sharing your delightful physical and culinary adventures! :D Welcome home!
aw, thinking my foam & hot glue trees were purchased that way is a huge compliment, thank you.
to be fair, you & i are not really the ones who need to remember this stuff. so i think it's okay if you can't make it. you did your part by raising a good piece of the next generation. <3
