Waterfalls everywhere! They're so lovely. And all the snow is, too, though I wouldn't be that excited driving in it. The 'superberries' looks damn tasty. What are those neat-looking sort of roundish pillar-rock formations? Very cool. *Sneaker* waves? Is that like a rip-tide thing? And the sign with the red bar across it - i can't see it well enough to tell. What is it denying, or banning, or excluding, or...whatever? Heh.
I love the ice, all striped - it looks like some kind of amazing quartz. Magical soup!!
fortunately, jon did the driving - i grew up in philly & chicago so i COULD do it, but i sure am out of practice.
those pillar-y things are basalt columns next to reynishverfi cave.
i'd never heard of sneaker waves before that poster, so you know as much as i do. :) the sign with the red bar basically means "unincorporated land", but jon & i kept cracking up that it was like NO MORE CITY HERE THERE SHALL BE NO BUILDING.
hey, thanks for always proving you've read it! most people just skim for photos. X)
HA! No more city! I like that. Actually - i like that a *lot*. :) I wish there were more of that here.
I don't mind driving in snow, but i hate ice, and mostly, i hate other people driving in snow and ice. I think the biggest thing that would bother me would be that i was a *total stranger* and so couldn't guess what roads and such would be bad or okay, and of course - can't speak the language! Which would make things awkward. And, also, yes - out of practice, since we don't seem to get much snow or ice around here anymore. :(
I love the basalt. That is so neat.
Aw, of coz! I enjoy your adventures - you do neat things and try new things and don't get all 'Ugly American' on stuff, which is the best part.
haha yeah, i won't soon forget having to guess whether the "impassable" road would be passable or not. X) pretty much everyone spoke english, though, so that wasn't a challenge.
on the contrary - if anything, i probably come off fairly anti-american. but i'm there to have a good experience, so there's no logical reason to be shitty about it. which doesn't explain the attitudes of many other americans we run into... i'll just accept your compliment now, thank you. X)
oh yeah i remembered what i was gonna say... they do sell skyr here now, idk about seattle... i find it to be kind of too sour and stiff, i much prefer noosa. just wish the pear cardamom tasted more like pear and less like apple... but does skyr taste different in iceland??
and yes, the waterfalls are exceptionally lovely....
noosa is my favorite! skyr was good in iceland, when it was like noosa, but sometimes it was also sour. so i guess it depends on company, much like our yogurts. but dude, pear cardamom has not made it to seattle yet! :O oooh there are a bunch of new flavors. cherry vanilla?! yes pls!
we have raspberry habanero and blackberry serrano as well, not super crazy about them... oh and mexican chocolate, which is mildly spicy chocolate noosa... i do like that one. salted caramel is ok too.
