vegas trip 2016

Nov 25, 2016 00:51

this was just a little domestic birthday trip. i didn't go to vegas for any of the proper vegas reasons - i went to ride top-of-building rollercoasters & eat gordon ramsay's food, & aj was kind enough to go along with me. have some bulletpoints & most of the snapchats i did while there. :)

go on then )

You do Vegas like I do Vegas - meandering, weird shit, spectacles, and good food. Usually I add "spending half the trip outdoors somewhere" into that formula, if there's time. It's close to so many good state and national parks! But I have to spend some time wandering downtown, at the Pinball Hall of Fame, cursing at the Bellagio fountains for showing "God Bless the USA" or "My Heart Will Go On" every time I pass, getting seekrit pizza at the Cosmopolitan, etc.

Zumanity is one of the LV Cirque shows I haven't seen, because I've heard mixed reviews. And because I can't stop thinking about the time my best friend and her dad accidentally went to see Zumanity together because they just wanted to see a Cirque show that night and didn't realize what the show was about.

Oh! And related to spectacles and Cirque, have you encountered Cavalia? They're like Cirque with horses, and they'll be in Vancouver next year, and this made me think of you immediately. I saw this show a few years ago and it was so beautiful that I cried which might have been because of estrogen but was also because of dancing coordinated horses.

yep, exactly! the fountains were nice but the bad music was not so nice.

haha i was glad to be with GOOD FRIEND & not with AWKWARD FAMILIAL ACCOMPANIMENT

I once rode up to the top of the Paris Eiffel Tower and waited for the fountains... "Proud to Be an American," blasted so loud I could still make out the words from across the street and up that high. Gah.

I'm glad you've seen Cavalia. Vancouver isn't *that* far... ;)
