oh hey! so i've done some fun stuff i forgot to mention & a lot of things are coming up that i forgot to mention too. :D in chronological order:

i went indoor skydiving.
i've been real skydiving ( twice!), so i figured this would be fun without the eardrum pain. it was! i did pretty well on my second turn - i was told i looked like a superhero. yes ( Read more... )

i used to value things more than experiences, preferring to buy a cd or two over a fancy dinner, but that's changed in the last five or ten years. i have all the things i need, so i've found myself wanting to spend money on experiences. it's a lot more fulfilling! & without someone else's poor budgeting skills holding me back, i don't need to delay doing awesome stuff anymore.

i *so* hear you on this. back in the day, i was all about buying CDs, books, records and other stuff. now i'm finding that they're gathering dust while i'm out trying to do things and spend time with people.

you sound super happy & that makes me happy (:

I just have to share, since you talked about loving when you get to see bands that you never thought you'd get to see: Adam got us tickets to see Eddie Izzard live this month and I keep getting super excited about it. I've been a huge fan of Eddie's stand up since I was 16 and I got my whole family (and Adam) to love him too and seeing him was a bucket list item for me but he'd stopped touring for years and I never thought he'd come close to us BUT HE IS and even though it was kind of expensive we're going and ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Ok I'm good.

Hell yes. Hearing about you being excited is always exciting!

I remember back when you liked things more than experiences ... I was in my own transition-from-things-to-experiences phase at that point, and I have to say life has been better overall since I realized Good Times are worth more than Things You Have To Pack Later This Year (well, you do not have to pack them as often, at least).

ha well yeah, but most of us don't move across the country quite so often as you. i've done it a few times in my life; you do it a few times a year.

Those are all awesome adventures and I am excited that you've done them or will get to do them!!

Now that things are slightly more stable, we're starting to make some plans for the coming months that have me super-excited. We're talking about a jaunt to Seattle at some point later this year, though I'm pushing for Portland right now because I've never been. Or Alaska because the fares always get cheap in the early fall. Or... well, after last year, I'll take any opportunity to get back on the road regularly.
