FUCK YEAH, ireland. i've contacted
a great tattoo studio in dublin, & was told "it would be a pleasure for us to add onto something so meaningful." :) we paid a bit extra for a GPS, so getting to the shop should be easier than china, haha. (& really, china was pretty simple, all considered.) i started local research & have already purchased
an outlet adapter of the same brand we used before. most exciting, though, is it looks like
names0fthedead is going to hop over from england to meet up with us@!!@!@ edit: nope, she's stuck working a tattoo convention. oh well!
the
luciferins (
facebook) pre-order closed with more orders than ever, so it's nice that's going well. my day job's been pretty fucking awesome, actually - i am enjoying going to work, which is weird! plus i can now expense out my home internet connection since i occasionally VPN to work (usually to avoid taking PTO when i'm sick) AND my cell phone despite being likely to only take one or two after-hours calls per month. my team is responding well to changes i've implemented, & a few people who were initially angry (or perhaps jealous) about my promotion have directly said i'm doing well at it. so go me. ALSO i made this in february when i got the gig, but one of my reps has now blown it up huge for me. :D it now hangs proudly on the lovely exposed brick behind my work desk:
so, i have a lot of exciting things upcoming:
next fancy dinner with sic737. it's working out great & this is the best way to keep in touch EVER.
nomeansno is finally back in town! joe will be away at prosperity, but chris is coming with me. i think this'll be my sixth time seeing NMN, & those boys ALWAYS put on a spectacular show.
we got tickets to the new star trek movie in imax for a day before it officially opens. i just happened upon this being a thing late one night, & BOOM there were tickets available. awesome. it's super fun to ditch out of work early to meet joe at the theatre - he gets his ass in line asap while i pick up dinner & snacks. :D
dexter & breaking bad are soon to return for their final seasons. :O
i've already acquired genius presents for joe's birthday this year, & i recently had an equally genius presentation idea. >:D
& yes, ireland cannot come soon enough. ahhhhh i love you international date line, i want to fly over you allll the time.
also sometimes this happens? & sometimes this does too.
here are some other things to declare:
a sunny surprise - http://stretched.livejournal.com/5652763.html:
wow, i haven't been this excited about a stone in a while.. & all the more so since it was a total surprise!
so i originally contacted agave adornments to commission this gorgeous chrysocolla, but i had a 102° fever at the time, & later realized it'd look terrible on my skintone. i emailed victor asking if they'd started yet, & fortunately i was able to bail - but i really didn't want to ask for a refund for my own mistake. so, i sent victor a photo of my stone collection, detailed out a bit about what i like, offered to pay any upcost difference, & left him to it. he complimented my rare pieces, then said he'd hunt down some fancy rough & get back to me.
exactly two weeks later, these came to my inbox:
victor wrote:
So I got my hands on some rough that I think you'll be stoked on. Indian Sunstone. It's the rock that all the synthetic "goldstone" wishes it were. The raw material was pretty... BUT we went ahead and carved it up because the finished product is way more stunning. Don't feel obligated to buy these if you're not 100% into them (we did a pair of the mayan flares just in case...). The price point is spot on with the chrysocolla that you had originally paid for. Do let me know what you think.
oh, do let's talk about what i think...
:D
the funny thing is that i researched indian sunstone some years ago, but something made me think it wasn't workable as plugs - i think because i only ever found tiny pieces of it for sale. man, it's right at home in my collection!
here are my pics. flashing:
& not flashing. i just love the white veining.
yes, of course i made you a video - you HAVE to see these!

the in-ears were surprisingly easy to take - they flash over a fairly wide angle.
& from the front:
samantha_sick said they look like a drag queen tiger, haha. so...
by the way, victor actually sent me a pair of 4ga at no additional cost, in case i didn't like them & decided to resell. WHO DOES THAT?! i seriously had SUCH a good experience with agave, & i look forward to sending them lots more money in the future.
enjoy! off you go to bug victor for yourselves. :D
my hawk turned a year & a half old on february 13th. it's getting tougher & tougher to photograph, but i'm so in love with it. there's still lot of pink, especially in the wing, but it's fading; perhaps if it's white by the two year update, i'll use a self-tanner for some really visible pics. :)
& as a bonus, i noticed ryan made my hawk the button for scarification aftercare on his website:
enjoy!
oh, & we went back to poppy's for seattle restaurant week. we took james, & the three of us split our three desserts. X)
starter:
grilled smoked-trout with radish charred onion salad
mains:
braised beef cheek with triple celery slaw
nettle, lovage & mushroom soup (good, but i traded for joe's carrot-lemon soup with dukkah)
asparagus remoulade with egg & caper
leek & fennel gratin
spiced fingerlings & fiddleheads
wild ginger, fennel & orange pickle
nigella-poppy naan
desserts:
ginger cake with vanilla ice cream, blood orange & candied olives
ras el hanout sorbet with caramelized pineapple & satsuma
burnt-honey walnut ice cream with dried plum compote
i'm not even going to go into detail, i just wanted to NEVER FORGET things like spiced fiddleheads & smoked trout & candied olives. omg.
& i'll leave you with a few words from our friend jon:
[21:50] i don't think anyone can teach how to give a fuck about other human beings : ( how do you do it?
[21:51] > how do i do what
[21:51] give a fuck about other people? or pretend to?
[21:51] > oh that's just careful observation & mimicry
[21:51] > it's not that tough
[21:51] > btw i got promoted to supervisor last month so clearly i'm doing it right
[21:52] you high-functioning sociopath, you!
[21:52] > :D you know me so well
