pigheaded

Another year older as if I didn't feel old enough -_- I forget how young people are, and how little people ever really grow up.
I sit in a circle of mature master degrees and higher pastors and they're still fighting over petty things.

Everyone talks at each other and no one ever really listens, no one cares unless it's them.

A man died in Iraq and his wife gives birth to his son 24 hours later.

A 10 year old girl is 25 weeks pregnant and has to get an abortion.

Foster children are sitting on their suitcases waiting in the lobby for someone to take them on Christmas Eve.

A man is dying of AIDS and has 6 months to live.

A mother is dying of cancer and her daughter only wants a BMW.

A congregation holds itself together for a year without a pastor praying for someone to lead them.

These things matter. These are REAL things that are happening, have happened that no one wants to see. They're not in the news. They're not made up to provoke drama. They're real stories with real people that exist every day just surviving.

Why are people so concerned with such petty things? What does it matter, why does no one have any consideration for the truth or peoples' feelings?
What happened to believing in people, the benefit of the doubt? Or at least courtesy. Politeness. Respect.

There are bigger things that matter. The world is dying, it needs help and no one wants to acknowledge it. Everyone's so wrapped up in everything involving them they can't even see themselves anymore. No one seems to know who they are.

I'm not sure people ever really understood, but I truly despair that mankind is already lost.
