Things are better-ish

I decided that rather than continuing to wallow in my writerly angst, I needed to actually get back on track. May 1st seemed like a good time for new beginnings. Back in the North Country, trilliums would be blooming; it was the start of the new year in Riverun, that liminal dream world I created in my backyard as a teenager.

The first step in my plan was GO TO BED AT A DECENT TIME so I could get up early and write. And because I've been underslept lately. To this end, I decided I wouldn't do anything to hype me up right before bed, like go dancing or play TESO or read stupid blogs. Instead I cleaned a little, knitted while listening to Red Seas Under Red Skies, read about Restoration London, and zonked out before Matt got home from his business trip.

Then I was up at 6am to write. Or, more precisely, work on my synopsis for G&F. Because it needs to be done if I'm ever going to submit to certain agents, and because I made a deal with sprrwhwk that I would continue submitting if he would. I made significant progress, but I'm still not done. I need to both add (to get to the end) and trim (to get under word count). I'm aiming for about 500 words? 1-2 pages covers a lot of ground, though, depending on spacing.

I should also take his advice and finally join Codex, since VP makes me eligible...

Anyway. Some fun links for you on this fine Beltane:

The Moral Alignment of Jeeves and Wooster. Posted on Facebook, too, but it needs to be seen more widely. Includes characters from non-Jeeves stuff, too! Once again Mallory has a direct line to my brain. Although I think we disagree about the alignment of Uncle Gally...

The Ultimate Guide to Fishing in the Elder Scrolls Online. You probably don't care about fishing in TESO, but this is hilarious regardless, mostly due to the author's enthusiasm relative to how utterly broken fishing is right now. Some choice quotes:

Some people have suggest fishing is a quick and easy way to make money. These people are dirty, god damn liars.

So why would anyone waste time on fishing? I have no idea, and yet I have spent probably more time than anyone in the game (that I know of), figuring out it's dirty little secrets

and yet now I have this guild full of totally chill, laidback individuals who just want to have a good time and do some PvF (Player-versus-Fish)

When they took the game down on Thursday, they fixed a bug that let you catch veteran rank swords in Stonefalls (along with less important bugs like PEOPLE BEING ABLE TO LOG INTO OTHER PEOPLE'S ACCOUNTS).

... I need to join this dude's guild, if it's not already full.

link love, silly, gods and fathers, teso, writing
