Of candles burning at both ends

I am so bloody sick of LARPing/LARP prep. I will be glad for a nice big break until September.

Everything in my life recently has been the all-consuming final prep for LXHS. We are entirely too ambitious, but for our trouble there will be some awesome set dressing.

Still can't shake the feeling this game is too fiddly, with too many mechancis, too much GM intervention, too many items. (We hit 100 items in the game. Admittedly, some of those are items that have since been removed from the game, but we haven't renumbered yet).

I had a dream last night that it was the big day, and as things were going as they usually go in dreams--poorly. Everyone was an hour late to game. Four people showed up in lab coats, thinking this was a different game entirely, and strangely didn't glom onto the fact that they were surrounded by people in Victorian garb. yunafonfabre and her wife showed up, saying, "Oh, we accidentally dropped the game... we meant to play!" Our Dodgson was even later than the others, and it was John Schwartz, not John Isabella. juldea and shadowravyn showed up to GM, and they had put together a helpful card system for some of the mechanics in game, but they were the mechanics as they were in their run, not this run. While I was explaining the rules, the people in lab coats got into a loud bitchfight, and I had to send them out to the hall. On top of everything else, none of the players would talk to each other.

Well, at least it can't be that bad?

I'm sort of sad I didn't have time to do much for my High Rollers prep. I really wanted to make an epic 1930s evening gown and practice my poker skills. I haven't done any of this. I really need to carve out more time to prepare.

I'm also kind of irked at myself that I signed up for morning games, especially given how early morning games are at Palindrome. I am going to be in no state for Vanishing Point, AND I'm in the early run. I actually attempted to drop the game before casting happened, and I was guilted into staying, even though there was another female on the waitlist. Boo.

larp, lxhs
