Day One: Pride - Seven great things about yourselfDay Two: Envy - Seven things you lack and covet
Day Three: Wrath - Seven things that piss you off
Day Four: Sloth - Seven things you neglect to do
Day Five: Greed - Seven worldly material desires
Day Six: Gluttony - Seven guilty pleasures
Day Seven: Lust - Seven love secrets
1. An organized craft room/costume storage. Right now all my finished costume pieces are scattered across my house--some in the basement with the craft stuff, some in the guest room, some in the bedroom. My sewing room itself is a disorganized tangle of cobbled-together pieces of shelving and furniture, none really well suited to the task they fulfill. I'd really like to pay an organizer to come in and help me with this space, as I'm one of those people who can't function well in a disorganized space.
2. A housekeeper/cleaning person/cleaning service. Again with the not functioning well in a disorganized space. Unfortunately (or fortunately, really) we have a lot of space, but we can't keep it up by ourselves.
3. Visual artistic talent. I wish I could translate pictures in my head into visual representations, but I lack the pure talent/spatial orientation--plus it's something I've never really practiced.
4. Musical talent. I am comically musically untalented, considering how skilled I am in some other areas. I am tone deaf, have almost no sense of rhythym, and don't have even the most basic understanding of music theory. I love music, but I can't describe it intelligently.
5. More energy/self-motivation. I never seem to have the energy to do all the things I need/want to do. I know there's more I could do about this. I could be better about using my CPAP, I could take care of some of the energy drains in my life (see: cleaning, organization), etc.
6. More travel. I would like to take that trip to Argentina. I would like to go to more LARP cons--WyrdCon, Consequences, etc. I would like to return to France with Matt. I would like to take a culinary tour of NYC. I would love to take the beer tour of Germany.
7. More willpower/perserverance to achieve my goals. I want more ability to stick to things when they become difficult. Since my usual way around #5 is to set external deadlines (i.e. I have to write that LARP since I bid it to run at X event), the next obstacle is actually putting my ass in a chair and writing/sewing/doing what I need to meet that goal. My first inclination is usually to bolt--to tune out, to avoid. I wish it wasn't.
Interesting. This is a really telling list. It shows me where the obstacles are in my life right now, and even suggests action. I guess if nothing else, you can say that I've learned how I achieve (or resist achieving) goals.
Speaking of goals, weighed in today at 165. That is slightly higher than last week's 163.8, but I suspect it's within normal variation. Overall I'm down 3.85% since the start. It's pleasing to me that the other competitors in my office's Biggest Loser competition are starting to flag. Tortoise, hare, etc.
