From
Oregon, August 2009
From
Oregon, August 2009 I've finally gotten around to releasing some of the photos that have been stuck in my new Blackberry the past several months. These are from my most recent trip home to Oregon.
The first, featuring my sister Jennifer, was taken at one of her brief alma maters-- the Kennedy school--which is more recently become a favorite
bar/restaurant/hotel/theater complex in NE Portland. The second is from the interior of the new Oney's, a
sentimental family pit-stop on the way to the coast, which was recently rebuilt after its destruction in an arson fire last year. Food is still greasy/tasty, but much of the character has been lost.
For more context and view of the entire trip--including a glimpse of Oney's favorite nightgown, preserved behind glass!--
pics are on Picasa.
So I can remember them for posterity, outings besides Kennedy School/Oney's included:
- A lovely post-sunset dinner at
Maggie's on the Prom in Seaside
- Barely adequate albeit ocean-view eggs benedict at
The Wayfarer in Cannon Beach
- A much better breakfast though no view at the
Big Wave in Manzanita
-
Fresh Dungeness crab and smoked salmon served balcony-side back at
The Lanai- Two evenings of swanky cocktails at new spot
Alu on MLK
- Another perfect steak at
Savoy after discovering the wait at the trendy new Thai place on Division(?!) was a good hour
- Ritual father/sister pancakes at
Cameo Cafe after discovering trendy spot on Alberta was way too loud
- First visit in likely two decades to
Cinema 21 for In The Loop
- Darklady's
Dinner & Porn Night and an impromptu visit to the
Paris Theatre- Another "Waffle Sunday"... and then back to NJ!
(And let's
remember this for next summer!)
