T-minus... something

In about eight and a half hours, the movers arrive, along with some wonderful friends who have volunteered their strong backs to the cause. I still need to pack the last few shelves' worth of books upstairs, and pack the dishes and some last randomness in the kitchen.

The books are mission-critical; the dishes, not so much. Frankly, there's a lot of randomness left to be packed/moved that's not mission-critical - anything that doesn't need to be moved by movers can just wait, as far as I'm concerned at this point.

Today, we got most of the kitchen packed, moved, and unpacked, as well as unpacking most of Rabbit's kitchen stuff that was already at the cabin. I think I've got a decent level of organization going on - I'm sure that once it's all in, we'll be shifting things slightly and certainly reorganizing each cabinet for more efficient use of space and clearing out duplicate items, but it's good enough to be useful and there isn't a huge pile of boxes blocking the way to move the furniture in.

I have no real space for Tupperware in the new kitchen. That may be a problem, but we'll see how much of the cookbook shelf is actually taken up by cookbooks. Tupperware can overflow there if need be. Or, if we manage to shoehorn a pot rack in, we'll suddenly have cabinet space again. I thought there was room on the ceiling for a pot rack, until I was informed by tall people that the ceiling is actually quite low, and they'd rather not get a concussion while going for a soda. Fair point, given recent events. ;)

But slowly, it's starting to look like home. The glass-front cabinets look just as pretty as I thought they would loaded down with my spice collection of Doom. The window seat is amazingly cozy with throw pillows in, and apparently we have a fish pillow too. (This is only funny to two other people reading, but to us it is hysterical, I promise. Or maybe that's just the exhaustion talking.)

By this time tomorrow night, I plan to be up to my neck in a bubble bath in that amazing bathtub. I wish desperately that the hot tub was up and running, but soon enough for that project. Everyone who has pitched in on the move, I promise that you guys will get a private hot tub party. I plan to ply you all with tasty food and tastier adult beverages and soak you until you forget just how heavy my stuff is. :D

Keep thinking good thoughts for me. I want an easy, low-stress move with no injuries and only minor breakage. The universe owes us - Rabbit already took the karmic hit for injuries.
