"Something's Gotta Give" 4/5
Lance said "jack and diane are so cute in this movie," but i had been thinking that "how can these two old ppl can be cute?" but they were really cute!! its amazing especially when u consider the fact that jack nicholson's character was first introduced as a jerk. but jack's character turns out to be the only one that understands diane's character, so the audience comes to like him. its so heartwarming to see middle aged ppl AIMing each other.
keanu looked best in this movie among all of his movies i've watched, but i wonder if his character really likes the diane's character. maybe he just liked her works, not herself... his character was too perfect.
i think the film was a bit too long. i thought the whole movie would take place at the cottage. and there is a sequence in which diane cries out many times. it should have been cut for sure.
on the dvd, there were two commentaries, one is by jack nicolson and the director, and another is the director and the producer. listening to the commentary w/ jack, i thought this director is not someone i want to work with. it seems she should have talked with jack more before (or at least during) the shooting. jack thinks about many things about the character etc, but the director didnt know it until the commentary. and it seems she spent months in shooting this movie even though it can be easily shot in 1.5 months!
