Wonderful weather

Today and the entire weekend, Seattle's had some surprizingly really NICE weather! It's been sunny and warm and today especially it was 70 degrees! Both here and in Indiana it seems to get nice and warm for a few days, early in April like this. Then unfortunately, it goes back to being it's normal 55 degrees or so ( Read more... )

Actually it's not nearly as inpredictable except for the last few years (I know, I know! The weather waited for you to arrive to go crazy!). Last year was *insane*--I have never had 90 degree weather in May before, 70s, that's normal. About this time of year we usually stick to low sixties, goes up to mid sixties around May and then June is when it usually starts staying in the seventies. Then we have y'know, the oddball days or weeks in there where the weather does whatever the heck it wants. Though with our one week of 90 degree weather last year, we certainly had a very cool summer. It's kind of odd. Either that, or I've been living here for 26-er-27 years and only now I'm paying attention to this stuff because I have yardwork that's dependent on the weather. o_O

Wait, I forget what part of WA you're in. Aren't you on the west part like on the Olympic peninsula?

Well I know and have heard in general Seattle's weather anyway, can be rather unpredictable cuz of the rain shadow we're under. I'm used to having May already being really hot where I'm from. Typically mid to late May it was at times in the 80s and 90s already! I kind of like that, kind of not. I prefer the 80 degree weather to come in June, but out here it seems to not come till waaaay late June, into early July. So out here it is a bit cooler or rather, it takes longer for it to get hotter.

Sorry it took so long to reply--I had a baby, so it's time consuming ;)

We're just a bit south of you--ahh, three hours south of Seattle approximately. Just down in Longview. Most of the weather along the entire I-5 corridor in WA is pretty much the same with a few exceptions. Seattle gets more wind and cooler weather (more snow in the winter) due to being just off the sound, and up towards Bellingham it tends to be a bit more windy and dry during the cooler months.

Yeah, May weather is--well, right *now* this is typical May weather. And yes, July is usually when we start getting nice warm weather, 80s to 90s and such.

You'd probably find amusement, usually in August, when the news reporters out here start crying drought. ;)

Oh wow, congrats on the baby! :)

Ah cool. I wasn't sure how weather was in other parts of WA. Though we did get snow this winter, I've heard generally Seattle has very mild, warm winters compared to other places, because it's by the water. And sofar it's proven to be true. It ain't no Midwest where it's like 10 degree out with 10 inches of snow. Don't miss that either!

Yeah that's something else I've heard; that Seattle has a "drought" season around mid July into late Aug., with very little rain. Aug. is nice and hot though.
