My father, when he retired from the Navy, and took whatever job would hire him, would always say "I was looking for a job when I found this one". I think that he meant he'd do what he had to do until he could get what he wanted. I know it's not what anyone wants to do, to take a job that is not what they are skilled for, but yeah... you might have to (and even those jobs are full of competition at this time).
Be that as may be, good luck-- don't quit looking, even if you have to take a menial job-- and I think your idea about going to the locak C.C. is a good move.
My friend out here works at a pizza place and said that there are top executives who've been laid off, who are fighting for jobs like that one (and other menial jobs). It's THAT bad!
The college I may be going to in person to see what it's about and if the government truly will fully finance it. If not, then I dunno. Probably can't afford it. But I'm only going sofar to get info.
Yeah, I hear you about the job market. One thing that I recommend is to do call backs on jobs you are really interested in. I will show you have incentive and go-getter-ness. *huggles* I wish you the best of luck. *shakes fist at nyars who aren't hiring and are ADDING TO this recession*
Well like I said I've been calling back places but they either tell me they've hired someone else or the position is closed, :( But I have started re-applying to places I had applied to in, or considered, in the past.
Yeah... sometimes you have to start making exceptions. But I still hear you out on the utter fusteration about not finding a decent job.
I never thought I be at Xerox this long, and sometimes I wish I never left Anthem (now Wellpoint). I might have been alone and bored there, but at least I was still in charge and did interesting things.
The copy center I'm at now? It's embarrassing... all I do is walk around daily on rounds to make sure copiers have paper, and then spend the rest of the day scanning documents to PDF. Really, it doesn't take too many brains to do that. I have to make sure I'm stoked on caffiene just to make sure my brain doesn't freeze up. Or I end up going to sleep from the monotony from scanning documents for 4 hours! :p
