Under the wire
I got an email this morning from the Gwen Stefani mailing list saying that a new, limited edition Gwen doll was coming out at Comic-con. "Cool, I'm going to Comic-con, I can get one!" I thought. Then I kept reading.... only 150 dolls were made, and you could get one by calling the toy company's number, starting at 10am this morning. It was 12:30ish when I noticed this. I told Sam and he said "Call!!!"
So I did, mis-dialed the first time, and the second time I got a voicemail box. Left (I thought) my name and cell number, and hung up. Then wondered if I'd left my area code, and had my fingers crossed. Never heard back from them througout the day. *sigh*
Sam came home a short while ago, and I threw together a chicken caesar salad for dinner; we were just finished when his cell phone rang. He answered it and they asked for me. I realized right away that I'd given out the wrong number, again, oops!!! But anyway, things were sorted out and Sam ordered the doll for me. :)
The guy told him a few things on the phone after the order was placed, like...
1.) 150 dolls were made, but 50 of them go to Gwen for her to do with as she pleases
2.) Their phone had been ringing all day (and call waiting beeps continued through the whole phone conversation)... they weren't not answering, they were just so overwhelmed with calls. They were progressing through the voicemail list and returning calls as they came in.
3.) After my order, there were only three dolls left! (Whew!!!)
He also told Sam that there will be the series two release this fall, and Toys 'R' Us will have two exclusive dolls, one at all Toys 'R' Us stores, and one that is only available at the Times Square store. BUT, if you call the TS store directly, you can order one.
Oh, and they will have one doll on display at Comic-con. Don't know if I'll get mine first, but probably not. I need to remember to put a mail stop on for our time we'll be at the Con, and also get boarding arranged for the kitties tomorrow.
