Eep! Just heard on the news that Hachette's three floors on Park Avenue are closed today and tomorrow for these pesky critters. Can you say...GROSS!
Until last week, I assumed bedbugs were limited to bedrooms and hotel rooms.
Then I read that Hollister, Abercrombie and Victoria's Secret (all in the city) closed for infestations.
I get itchy thinking about it.
Scratchy.
I've never encountered a bedbug but two friends of mine have. Both hotels were very "nice" hotels. One friend was lucky to return home without bedbugs. My other friend? Not so lucky. The end result after many unsuccessful attempts to rid the house of them? Four rooms of new bedroom furniture.
Ever since then, I examine/search for these critters when I get to a hotel room. It's easy to spot the warning signs. I could tell you or show you pictures of bedbugs but then I'd get all queasy and gag. So, Google away if you feel the need to investigate.
For those of you that are easily freaked out by all things with more than two legs, you can always check out the
bedbug registry site when planning a trip.
Edited to add: Just looked up all the publishing houses that make up Hachette. So, so many! Maybe this is the bedbugs' revenge: total domination!
