Simple Pleasures

For me, there is nothing so gratifying as spending a sunny Saturday morning in the summer at the farmers' market.  I can take a $20 bill and fill my bag with the following:

~ zucchini and summer squash

~ 2 heads of fresh garlic

~ 2 pounds of red, white and blue new potatoes

~ a big bag of utility peaches (cobbler anyone?)

~ a loaf of organic French country bread

~ a big bouquet of fresh flowers featuring sunflowers and zinnias!

It brings me joy like nothing else...partly just knowing that I'll whip up by far the healthiest repast of the week with these goodies.

That I can nurture my family with such good eats fills me with happiness...I don't care how corny that sounds, it's absolutely true.

And the day is still so young, there's no telling what else I can fill it with...

I'll absolutely take time to read ("Eat, Love, Pray"...fabulous summer read) on my deck and get some sun (zero humidity...a blessing in August), but I'll enjoy (YES!  enjoy!), hanging sheets on the line to soak in the sun.

Perhaps I don't have enough to do with my time that I find this a perfect day, but so be it.  I'm going with it!
