the secret recipe

How many people are looking for that perfect chocolate chip chookie recipe? It's a very important thing if you are to keep your loved ones happy. Michael loves it when I make cookies. The other day I made a batch for our visitors D & A. A commented that she really liked them, so I gave her the recipe (which I had gotten from my mother-in-law...or my out-laws and my dad says). Anyhow, back to the topic at hand. When looking at it she commented that "don't all chocolate chip cookie recipes look the same" and then went on to comment on how it only called for a pinch of salt, rather than a tsp or so....well, I'm not actully sure if that was the original recipe or how I copied it down. You see, I never put full salt in, because apparently I'm not very informed on how to bake well. I've recently come accross the information that the salt in baking is necessary to 'react' correctly with the baking soda. Well, I've never put it full salt, and here was my past, unexperienced and uninformed, reasoning: Baking = sweet, Salt = salty, Sodium = bad for body (due to mothers teachings), ... (in traigle formation) rather than 1 tsp of salt, lets put in one or two shick-a-shick-a's from the shaker. Well, here are the true findings. Before, with less salt, my cookies were chewy and delicious (the way my husband and company liked them). With full salt they are hard and crunchy....interesting...
