OK, so this weekend was INSANE. Parts were really amazing, but INSANE. Thank you to everyone who had such sweet things to say about B. He looks forward to coming back to spend time with everyone, not just me ...and getting to know people better.
He left this afternoon. He has about a week and then will be going to combat readiness school for contractors and expects to be on the ground in Baghdad by 8/28. He won't be back in the area now until his tour is done next year. And where he lands is still up in the air. He has a lot of options now, especially with this recent job on his resume, which is good.
I am currently planning to take a trip in June to Darkest Oklahoma to meet up with he and his son as the Thanksgiving Holiday, reasonably, will be spent with Chance. He is keeping OK as his home base instead of NE. It complicated state tax issues too much. And since Sharon is still being spiteful/unhappy..whatever word you want to use for it, keeping things as simple as possible is really best.
Despite some general nervousness, I have every faith that he will come back from this job relatively unscathed. I will feel better once he is in place. Currently, I am hoping that they will fly him in to his FOB instead of via motor caravan as had been originally reported. Keep your fingers crossed.
Once he gets back we'll see what happens. In the meantime, I guess I need people to know that no claim has been staked...so to speak, besides the deep and abiding friendship that has existed for a couple of years now. I am left mostly speechless by the kindness and sincerity and gentleness that I have been shown. And that's enough for now. Because it really has to be.
Anyway, em....lots of good things coming up in the next year in the meantime. Caz has given me a really fun book of paper mache thingies. We have an Irish Dance festival coming up and the KC Ren Fair. I am going to try to focus really hard on the dancing and Grail and getting some other things in order and the year will really fly by. Not to mention other opportunities that will make life in general more stable.
I am really, truly blessed by an amazing family and friends that touch me daily with their sweetness and honesty and sincerity. I am so lucky to be where I am now and have all of you in my life.
Much, much love,
Lily M.
