Thanks to everyone who replied to the last post. I'm sorry I haven't thanked everyone individually yet, but it's been pretty crazy over here. Heather met with her surgeon today and the news wasn't what she'd hoped. They're going to be taking a pretty big chunk out of her arm and all the surrounding lymph nodes. The surgeon told her she'd have quite a large scar. He's taking such a large piece he's not sure he'll be able to close it up afterwards, so there may also be skin grafts. There's some concern about how fast it was growing. It went from zero to a large, deep cancerous mass in the span of about a month. They're trying to cut it off at the pass. I believe the surgery is next Wednesday, and she'll be in the hospital for a day. I think he was trying to be reassuring when he told here there was only a 15-20% chance it had spread to the lymph nodes, but all she really heard was that 20%. Between the giant scar and the worry it's spread she's been in tears most of the evening.

Luckily her in-laws live fairly nearby and have been really helpful. It's a two-hour drive, but they've been up every weekend and even during the week to help out. Her mother-in-law told her to just let her know when she was having anything done and she'd take the day off work and drive up to help out with the baby and anything else she might need.

She still hasn't answered the phone when I've called (my mom said she's not really been up to talking to anyone), but whenever I actually talk to her I'll post more.
