The Calypso Island Legacy, Chapter 3- "Our house, it has a crowd..."

Jan 15, 2014 23:32

And after a longer than planned break we're back with Legacy founder Ainsley O'Keefe, her husband Gerard and their brood of red haired children.

"Our house it has a crowd
There's always something happening
And it's usually quite loud"
('Our House' by Madness)

When we left off, Ainsley and Gerard had welcome twins Bennett and Braden, third son Bishop and 4th child, only girl Brianne to their crowded one room home and were just waiting on the okay to try for Baby #5 so that Ainsley might possibly be able to fulfill her her lifetime want of Marrying off Six Children. Baby making was temporarily halted on account of there being no place left to stick another crib, but there was little doubt that Ainsley wouldn't get her way. She wanted her six kids, so a new house HAD to be built.

Presenting the O'Keefe Legacy House, basic version.

The house doesn't look like too much at this point, but it has the many bedrooms and bathrooms a family of this size needs which was the reason it was picked out for them. I actually borrowed the basic look and layout of the house from a real house plan called the Kearney that I found once upon a time and would absolutely love to live in with my real life family ( http://associateddesigns.com/plan/30062 ). With 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, the house has lots of space for Ainsley, her large family and future generations of O'Keefes. Building the house took most of the money that Gerard and Ainsley had been stashing away, but stuff like fine tuning the building, adding more furniture, landscaping and decorating will come with time. (*The junker car and soccer net were later additions since I I managed to lose the original screenshot of the house I took.)

But anyway...

"Excuse me... You said once we had a new house we could try for a new baby and time is wasting here. Siiiiixxxxxxxxx..."

Right. Sorry Ainsley. Carry on.

And they tried and tried. Flash forward through settling into the the new house, tot skill training for both Bishop and Brianne, a decent amount of sibling bonding, a trip out to the local Community Garden, and Bishop's kid birthday with no lullaby sounding even though Ainsley and Gerard were sneaking off to their bedroom whenever they had the chance.

Then... they finally got a lullaby to ring out! Yay! Baby five was finally on the way! I was starting to get worried about Ainsley's state of mind if they would have continued to struggle with increasing their current family size- getting six kids married before it's time to meet up with Grim just isn't an option unless you actually have six kids.

The falling asleep in her Mac N' Cheese should have tipped me off to what was coming.
"Hey Mom? You okay over there?"

"Bishop... Go get your father!"

Sigh...

I didn't see her do it, but I'm convinced that Ainsley got a hold of some cheesecake to make sure that she'd get her last two children with one swoop, just to make up for lost time. ~chuckle~

And the last members of the O'Keefe second generation are... Blake and Benedict! Five boys, one girl. Whew... I am so happy there is no more room for additions!

Wait a second... Bennett! What to you think you are you doing???

"He likes me! Can I keep him???"

Oh for... No! No pets right now! And we don't want a wolf as pet even if we were open to getting one! Go find a sibling to play with instead of encouraging the wildlife to hang around and dig holes in the yard please! You have lots of other sims around to keep your social up.

Lots of kids means lots of activity. Almost too much activity for me to keep up with actually. I feel like I miss a lot of their auto actions because there are just so many sims in the house.

Brianne had her kid birthday. (She looks SO much like her Mom to me... Ainsley, take 2, just with blue eyes. )

And her big brothers taught her all about fishing which was good for her Nature hobby score and good for the fresh food content of the family refrigerator.
" Fish are good to catch. Boots are bad."
"But where do all the boots come from?"
"We don't know, Sis. We don't know. There are hundreds of Sims out there somewhere who are looking for their left boot though."

The little twins turned into toddlers.

Blake is a Sagittarius 4/5/9/8/4 and the last little O'Keefe, Benedict, is an Aquarius 4/6/6/7/8.

"Who ya cawwing wittle?"

As they had with all four of the older children, Ainsley and Gerard rolled wants to teach Bake and Benedict their tot skills. They rolled wants to teach all the older kid to do their homework. And Gerard decided he really wanted the children to be in private school- he constantly had a want for one of the older kids to get into private school, so I finally locked one down for him and told him to hold on for just a few more days until the little twins had their kid birthdays so we could get everybody in with one Headmaster visit.

But first, the oldest set of twins had candles to blow out. Okay guys, per Legacy rules we will be rolling for both the primary and secondary aspirations for all sims when they reach their teen birthdays so let me grab the Almighty Dice of Destiny, aka the tiny pair of red dice I snagged out of one of my kids board games and claimed as MY simming dice. Ready? Set? Go!

Not too bad for EAxis picks, but I have a rule that everybody gets a new outfit for their birthday (because the game's selections are normally so hideous), so the boys ran out to the clothing store and stopped at the mirror to update their teen looks. Photo for the wall time.

Ta Da... Lookin' good guys!

Braden rolled Popularity with a family secondary and wants to top the Law career. Bennett got Knowledge with a Popularity secondary and wants to reach the top in the Education field. We can work with those! Both boys got aspirations that I'm happy with and both of them have Lifetime wants that are easy enough to complete which is a big plus for a possible Legacy heir. Bennett is the oldest and I know a lot of Legacies declare the first born in the Heir, but I don't want to stick to an oldest formula, especially in a family with 6 possibilities. I'm tempted to just pick my favorite, but I think a vote once all the kids have their aspirations would be the most fair.

Before the newness of being teens has a chance to really set in for the oldest twins it is time for another birthday. We are always celebrating birthdays in this house! Time for Benedict and Blake to age up to kid stage!

The faces that Benedict makes just make me laugh- he is very expressive!

Blake's turn next.

Gerard, they tire me out too. Nap on, dude!

The twins birthday means all six of the children are now school aged and that means it is time to make a call to the Headmaster to see if the O'Keefe children can get into Private School and Gerard can start focusing on something else.

Squeaked it! Thank goodness for the coffee bonus! The Headmaster was a huge sourpuss and any time anybody would try to schmooze with him he'd mark their points down. It was better to just not talk to him at all and hope that the food and tour would be enough with an added cup of coffee at the end. Their final score was too close for comfort, but they did make the cut so the next day all six of the kids got dressed up in their brand new uniforms and hopped on the bus together.

And it is time for another birthday... yawn... Sorry kiddo, it isn't personal... This time it is Bishop's turn to teen up. Dice are ready- Go for it!

Uh Oh... this might throw a little hiccup into Ainsley's "marry everybody off" plan. Bishop rolled romance. Romancers are generally not big fans of wedded bliss and I don't make sims get married unless they role a want to do so. Hmmmm... well... Stranger things than a romancer suddenly deciding he or she is completely devoted to one sim and only one sim have happened in my game before so who knows what might be in Bishop's future. No need to fret too much about Ainsley's LTW yet.

But anyway, Bishop rolled Romance as his primary aspiration with a Wealth secondary, His lifetime want is to 'Be a Hall of Famer'- shouldn't be a problem. His spin outfit is actually decent so he can save his birthday outfit purchase for another day. The hair... well, we'll find something that suits. He just looks too cute to be a romancer to me.

"Cute? I am NOT cute!"
Sorry to tell you this, Bishop, but yeah, you are kinda cute. A mix of surfer boy and boy next door. I also hate to break it to you, but if you want to get in good with the girls you are going to have to be nice to them. With your one nice point I know the idea of friendly hugs makes you break out, but I think you can handle it. No noogies allowed!
"Nice... she says I have to be NICE. That is totally against my nature! I need to go fix my freaking hair. I can NOT do NICE and CUTE.!"

Braden is pretty adept at the Popularity lifestyle already, bringing home potential new friends from school every day and receiving phone calls inviting him to go out with folks. No better time than on his brother's birthday than to go out on a group outing, dragging the birthday boy and his twin along with him to the 50's Diner downtown.

"You don't think this hairstyle makes me look CUTE do you?"

The guys had a good time, made a lot of contacts with the previous cloned Downtownie set and reminded me that I really needed to switch out the game's original Downtown lots for ones that I have fixed up or downloaded. Maxis lots make me sad... even the ones I basically like have issues.

Three active boys with sports as their hobby means lots of time watching them play soccer. I still think I prefer the basketball hoop, but the guys seemed pleased enough kicking the soccer ball around.

Brianne, one of the nature hobby fans of the family, started a garden and since she was the only girl in a huge family of brothers I built her a tree house so she could escape when the boy type noise in the house got more than she could stand. Considering the next family event, she might really need her hideaway soon...

Because guess what day it is? It is time for another birthday...
Yeah, I know, it is hard to get too excited. For the kids too, I think.

Brianne ages up to a teenager and the destiny dice roll Knowledge aspiration for her with a secondary of Wealth. Her lifetime want is to 'Be a Cult Leader'. I love how Bennett is so shocked at her transformation. ~chuckle~

I actually like what she is wearing, but she wants to go out to buy a pair of earrings and grab an outfit anyway so she drags along a couple of brothers with her to the local clothing shop. Bishop to pick out his something new and Bennett... Why is Bennett coming along again?

"Just wait, he's been talking about her since he was here on his birthday..."

He's been talking about who? I'd tell you, but I have no idea how many pictures I'm allowed to post here and don't want to test it more tonight! Find out in the next chapter of the Calypso Island Legacy!
