Maxis Lot Makeovers- Sim State Central Quad

Jan 04, 2014 01:26

I've got teens I need to send off to college in both Twinkie Town and in Calypso Island so it's time to fix up my favorite campus for them! Once upon a time in the past I thought I'd be ambitious and revamp all the lots on my own, but I didn't get very far- I just don't have the patience to correct every single one of them. I seriously like to decorate and landscape, but having to fix every single lot in the whole hood is just too time consuming for me. Luckily I found that a simmer named Miss Adia Sims had the same idea about beautifying Sim State and had posted her lots for upload on her LiveJournal page ( http://missadiasims.livejournal.com/19299.html ) so there are options for the lots I just don't want to deal with. I should have my 2 campuses in playable condition in no time flat using some of her lots along with ones I've switched up myself.

The Central Quad

"The nicest place on campus to simply sit down and relax. Also a great place for people watching and meeting new friends."

It is very obvious that EAxis and I have very different ideas of what "the nicest place on campus" should look like and have available.

This is BEFORE-

This is AFTER-

I give the EAxis programmers a bunch of crap for their fugly design aesthetics and normally they totally deserve my scorn, but I will give them some credit for the basic design of this lot- I've always thought the criss-cross was very, very nice. Yeah, they didn't use the stones/bricks I would have and the activity level is pretty dead, but it took awhile for somebody to work that design in the first place and it is a good one. It just needed a little help to be more like the lot description, a nice place to come hang out and people watch. The biggest problem to me is that the game lot didn't really have much to do while you were there. So I fixed it up, made it someplace where you might want to stop and hang out for a little while. I kept the coffee stand and the grills for quick energy or hunger fixes and added in a few chess boards, a small stage for poetry recitals or for singing, a pond for a little fishing if that was your thing. I threw down a blanket on the grass for having a little picnic or snuggling and star gazing with a sweetheart and cleared away the death trap pool with no ladder at the center of the Quad- no need to temp the emo co-eds to their doom. I mean really, drowned ghosts are not what anybody wants to deal with, what with their constant puddles. I replaced the pool with some flowers and a fountain- the pranksters need some place to use that box of soap they carrying around with them everywhere. Far better option than death by "Ooops, there's not a pool ladder." in my opinion.
