Ok 3 part entry......

Valentines day is a week from yesterday and I yet to have plans or a date. Two years ago was the best valentines day I've ever had. Last year was good and then sucked and then ended up rocking big time when I went downtown to chillers and lattitudes with my girls. I want this guy I have my eye on to ask me out for valentines ( Read more... )

The way I look at the Lent thing is that if you want to make a sacrifice then you should give something up that is difficult, hence it's call a sacrifice. My dad made this point to me a couple of years ago and really I haven't given anything up for Lent since. I used to try to get away with giving up soda and then taking up Gatorade, but that kind of defeated the whole purpose when I really look back on it. I just substituted something I liked just as much so it didn't end up being a sacrifice. I'm not sure I'll give anything up this year either, I don't think so, I just try to watch what I'm doing and try to be a better person and hope that I can carry it on for the rest of my life instead of picking up where I left off before Lent started. So, what I'm trying to say is that I agree with my dad. And I think if you are going to go through with the sacrifice then you should do it with your whole heart, don't just do it because that is what you are "supposed to do" or whatever.
Then there's the not eating meat on Friday deal and fasting, which don't work for me either. Not only does my body not like the idea, I just don't understand it and if I were to do it it just wouldn't be for the right reasons. I think that when I get religion straightened out in my mind then I will be able to make the sacrifices for the right reasons. Anyway, not sure if this makes it harder or easier for you, or maybe it just leaves you in the same spot. But I just figured I'd give my 2 cents.. hopefully it's worth that much.

Oh, and good luck with the shoulder and Valentine's Day!
