Merry Imbolc...and Go, Groundhogs!!!

Feb 02, 2011 06:56

It's official. Groundhogs around the country are predicting an early spring. WOOHOO!!! I don't know about you, but I'm ecstatic that none of the fuzzy little dudes are seeing their shadows. Some years, Imbolc finds me still in the heart of the cave with zero interest in crawling out. But this year, it feels like I went in early, sliding in a bit more each day after Mabon.

Now? I'm ready to burst out, ready to see the seeds I've been nurturing start to flourish, grow and blossom. That's why if you'd been a fly on the fence you'd have seen me doing an honest to Goddess happy dance in my back yard when I spotted the first three branches of my flowering quince in full and radiant bloom. There was a bee dancing with me, totally drunk on its first taste of nectar.

So, I applaud Phil and Chuck and all the rest of our furry weather men for deciding that this year, spring will come early. And I'll spend some time this Imbolc morning planting magickal seeds and paying my respects to Brighid, Goddess of forge, flame and poetry, asking her to bless my words and my home.

Merry Imbolc, and happy planting!!

PS:  Gracecat!!! The heirloom bulbs you sent me are all up! I counted. =D
