I thought that I was all feminist and progressive, what with actively avoiding overly-pink clothing for my daughter, and seeking out gender-neutral clothing. "We don't need to impose societal notions of gender on her this early! She'll get that from greater society soon enough!"
Oh, how smug I was. As it turns out, there have been several instances where I changed B's outfit because "she doesn't look like a girl."
Why do I care whether complete strangers know that my baby is a girl??? I have no idea. I need to engage in some self-analysis.
