Last night I've watched Magic Mike. I have enjoyed it and I would recommend it for a good time. It was boring in some parts, but, ultimately, the eye candy was worth it. If you put Magic Mike next to The Full Monty you have the exact difference between American and European cinema. Now I can't resist making another comparison.
1. Both Magic Mike and gay porn show gorgeous men with awesome abs. Maximum points for both of them here. Of course, gay porn wins on gorgeous asses and really nice cocks.
2. A compelling plot - nonexistent in both Magic Mike and gay porn.
3. Choreography. Here Magic Mike wins clearly over gay porn. That Channing Tatum can dance!
4. Matthew McConaughey - here gay porn gets all the points because they don't have him. I really hate the guy and in this particular movie he seems full of botox and little else. I hope I will manage to erase from my memory the scene where he strips.
5. Acting. Pretty much the same quality in both Magic Mike and gay porn. For example, Channing Tatum has the acting depth of a pizza. Very pretty, but I have never seen someone so completely blank.
6. Duration. Here gay porn wins because you get the same stuff in 20 minutes instead of almost 2 hours filled with boring, pointless stuff.
7. Social message. Another win for gay porn that simply shows people enjoying themselves and enjoying sex, which is something nice, while Magic Mike has a confused message. Is it good to be a stripper, is it bad? Does it necessarily lead to selling drugs? Does it make 30 year old people old and pathetic? I'm just not sure.
8. Happy end. Money shots win, because what can be happier than that? Certainly not the kissing with a judgemental woman that always wears a frown, in spite of her young age.
