Today has been a pretty horrible day. Not only my mother's trip to Bucharest to (finally) get her surgery that would enable her to have her dialysis without worries was totally unsuccessful, the doctor saying he was too busy to take care of her today and postponed it till Wednesday, but, worse, she developed a blood clot on her foot (trombosis) and now she's in Cardiology under care. I can only pray that the blood clot doesn't migrate upwards and the medication didn't come too late. The surgery is a matter of distant future now, for sure. The present is... totally scary. Unpredictable.
But what I really wanted to write about was a fascinating thing I found out about today. I went to the healthcare house to get some papers for my mother and I discovered that she is in debt to them! Why? Because - follow the math, please - she sold shares worth 170 lei (~43 euros) and because of that she has to pay to the national healthcare system 500 lei (120 euros)! Isn't this amazing! All this for the privilege of benfiting from our wonderful healthcare system which means: 2 people in a hospital bed, medication that you have to buy yourself, bribes for doctors and nurses to do anything! I had to buy even the adhesive bandage after the first (unsuccessful) surgery!
No wonder I'm going crazy here! It's not only that fate is cruel to people who get ill in this country, but the system fucks them even worse!
