rant-time

Last night I watched for the first time a bit of Oprah. I deeply dislike the character - for a thousand and one reasons I am not going to make a list of here. But she invited a bunch of 'motivational speakers'. A category that... What is the difference between crooks who sold in public squares potions 'that cure all diseases' and motivational speakers? The latter make much much more money. I am disgusted by pep-talks you have to pay for. People making a fortune from other people's weakness and stupidity. And they even dare say that they do it because of their good hearts... because they want to help people in need. I don't need someone to teach me to be 'in love with myself'. I'm rather comfortable hating myself. I don't want to buy when some guy sells his 'recipe for success'. I don't cook this way. I read some self-help books at some point - from pure curiosity. They're crap. They're insulting my intelligence. They're insulting the complexity of human nature in general. I am honestly surprised that these disgusting schemes tricking people to pay for stupid advice are so main-stream.
