I tried to leave a comment this morning from work but the durned computer froze on me. You're right - not a lot out there is you type in medieval + princess. I use the dogpile.com meta search engine myself - perhaps leaving out princess and substituting a general medieval royalty search might help. Also, perhaps it will be necessary to figure out the names of real life Queens and do a search on them - because they were once princesses. One woman that comes to mind is Queen Isabella - wife of Edward II - sister to the King of France. The other would be Elinor of Acquitaine (sp?) - wife of Henry Plantagenant (II). Isabelle and Ferdinand of Spain are another possibility. Their daughter, Catherine of Aragorn (married and discarded by Henry VIII) might be a possibility - I think she just manages to be a medieval princess. I read a bio once that discussed her early life. All I know is that princesses were married off very young - they were seen as property plain and simple. They'd be provided with a dowry and they'd be expected to breed as soon as possible. Life is castles wasn't all it was cracked up to be, either. It was cold and damp and the sanitation was terrible. It would have been hard to have to leave home at 14; often to travel to a foreign land; never to see your parents again. They wouldn't be terribly well educated, either. If you find a general description of life in a castle - what they ate, etc, you'd find that it would apply to a princess as well.

I know much more about Mary Tudor and Elizabeth I but they are Renaissance Princesses...

Also, I just read your post again and realize this is for an 8 year old! So perhaps some pictures of their dress (lots of that on the net) and some general facts about life in a castle would suffice?
