I have had a really good Christmas!
I got a few really really special gifts. Some of them in packages and some of them not.
My grandparents gave me a handmade recipe binder with all of my grandma's recipes all typed out. They are my grandma's recipes and my grandpa typed all of them out on the computer. They have been working on it for months and tried to do three recipes a night. My grandma was REALLY excited about it and it was really cool. There is a lot of room in the back for me to write my own down. I am going to see if my mom can type her recipes out on cards so I can add it to the binder. My grandma even called my mom and got some of my Grandma Dodd's recipes to put in it.
My mom also gave me something really special. She inherited some heirloom English china from her mother that came from our ancestors in England. She gave me my favorite tea cup and saucer and a big tin of Twinings Earl Grey (my favorite!). It is really cool.
One of the best Christmas gifts is that my Grandpa finished his physical therapy with the chip in his brain and now he can do all sorts of things he couldn't do before. One thing on the list of things he wanted to do was to be able to write again. When he started the therapy he tried to write his name and it was just a scribble. Last week he cut out a perfect heart with scissors and wrote "Pat, I love you, Bob" perfectly. It was so good to see my Grandpa's handwriting again. It made me want to cry.
I got lots of other stuff, a Rachel Ray cookbook, "The Martha Rules", and gift certificates to World Market so I can buy and island for my kitchen. I had no idea what I was getting this year because my mom gave me my "big" present on Thanksgiving (a new coat).
Hopefully I will be going to the DIA to see the Rodin exhibit tomorrow or Tuesday. My aunt and cousin might go with me. That would be cool. My uncle was saying they took my littlest cousin with them to the DIA when they had a Michaelangelo exhibit and she went from room to room pointing and saying "naked, naked, naked" but I think the oldest one Rachel who turns 12 next week will appreciate it.
