Stars of night turned deep to dust...

So my first review is of The Red Stripe in Narragansett.  I went there for lunch, today, with Melanie.  She had a salmon caesar salad and I tried their trademark moules and frites.  We started with the calamari.  We probably won't be going, again.  Papa Finnagle's friend recommended the place to me over the summer and perhaps the Providence location is better.  The calamari was breaded, but none of it stuck to the squid and it was basically just squid mixed in with soggy breadcrumbs.  Mel's salad was gigantic and was easily three meals in one.  It was okay, but how can you mess up caesar salad?  My moules et frites were okay, too.  Maybe I'm just not a big enough mussels fan, but I have had good simmered shellfish before at Local 121 and this is not even close in comparison.  The fries were decent as they seem like they are freshly cut and fried on site, but their aioli was too thin.  Overall, it was a fail.  Out of five stars, I give it:  ONE STAR.  Huge disappointment.  I've been more satisfied at Crapplebees.

Meal:
Calamari: 8.50
Caesar salad with grilled salmon: 13.00
Moules and frites: 12.00

Moving on, I was sick of waiting for my pre-ordered copy of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies from Amazon so I just went to BN and bought it there.  I'll just give my extra copy to CJ as that will probably be the only way to get him to read my favorite novel.  While I was there, I purchased Jane Austen: An Illustrated Treasury.  LAHVE IT.  Any true Jane Austenite needs to get it.  Anyway, as I was admiring my purchases at home, I was thinking about the new office I'm acquiring downstairs.  I haven't mentioned before, but my dad has been remodeling the basement (we're painting it a deep eggplant purple.)  I'm probably going to paint my office part a shade of grey.  I just bought four 11x17 in. posters to hang along the wall behind my desk.  I was looking for a Hugh Thomson print from his P&P illustrations but after my futile search, found a better solution.  I got a movie print from each of the 1940, 1995, 2003, and 2005 versions of Pride and Prejudice.  They'll be here in 2-3 weeks.  I am very fortunate that my favorite book just happens to be the greatest romance story of all time and there are always new ways to enjoy it.  For instance, Marvel has turned it into a 5 part comic series.  I missed the subscription, though, and I haven't been able to find it for sale anywhere local.

Speaking of written works, I must get started on my children's books.  I already started brainstorming and Mel likes where I am going with my ideas.  I'm going to start browsing some books at the library and bookstore to figure out what style of illustrations and target age group I want.
