She didn't like last night at all. Where there was one person out of the grave, there tended to be more. Rather than activate the special unit, she called in her boys. If anyone could tell her what was going on...they could. She could call them a lot of things, but right now the word that came to mind was 'trusted

They got the phone call and right after work, stopped by the apartment to get their weapons, not even bothering to change out of their jeans into their leathers.

Telling Beka to sit tight, it wasn't anything personal but CJ did ask them to come armed and that couldn't possibly be good, they kissed her and headed to CJ's.

They were up the building in a flash and the perched on her balcony when they reached her level, each of them looking at her with concern on their faces.

"You're here. Good." she said, her tone cool and professional. She rose from her chair and sat her tea aside as she walked toward them, Kadaj first. "You're faster and you can stay hidden. I need you to find something out...and don't get hurt in the process."

Kadaj shrugged and leapt lightly to the balcony to stand in front of CJ. "What do you need?"

"You know where the cemetaries are in town? Freeling Meadows and Romero Gardens? I need you to see who's raising the dead." she said, walking back to the table and taking her tea. "Last night we killed a zombie that was something more than I'm used to. It didn't die until we hacked it to bits."

Loz and Yazoo were both down and following behind CJ.

"Are you okay? Was the doctor with you?" Loz was frowning that something this bizarre was happening and that it happened to CJ.

"I'm fine. Ten was there. We saw him going after a girl and had to help. We had to. Some things I will not tolerate in my city." she said as she set her cup down hard. "I need to know if it was an isolated incident or if we're going to have another invasion...the dead need to stay dead."

[brothers_three]

"CJ, I don't know how to keep the dead, dead," Kadaj said, circling around to stand in front of her. "But we'll go have a look and see what we can find out."

She stared at him for a moment, stunned that she'd forgotten they had missed the zombie attacks on both towns by mere weeks.

"Don't get bitten or scratched by anyone who looks like they've come out of the ground. The best way is to cut off their heads. Don't mess around. Some move fast, some move slow...all of them are bad. It's against nature. Mostly I want to know if someone is behind it."

She hesitated for a moment and ran her fingers through her hair. "Someone who has something to gain."

Listening to her instructions, Kadaj smiled, his head tilting toward her hand. "Okay, CJ. If there's anything to know, we'll find out about it. We won't let them terrorize your town."

"Good, because only the people I say get to terrorize the town are allowed." she snorted sarcastically. Turning toward them again, she softened, still clearly annoyed but not with them and not without reason. "I knew I could count on you. Just keep your eyes open and let me know anything, no matter how small. Vampires, zombies, lunatics...how am I supposed to stop muggings between normal people if I can't deal with the monsters?"

"Especially if the monsters look like the normal people," Kadaj said with a grin.

"Those are the hardest to spot." she said with a wicked gleam in her eye as she moved in and cupped his face. "So tough when there isn't any black and white...just gray."

[brothers_three]

"We'll make it black and white for you, CJ," Kadaj promised. They would at least try. Anything to make her job easier and make her proud of them.

"Good boys." she said and leaned in to kiss him on the forehead.

Standing to the side, Loz and Yazoo were discussing how they'd go about trying to find out why there are zombies, getting into a soft verbal disagreement on the best course of action.

Kadaj's eyes closed and he smiled when CJ's mouth touched his forehead, turning a glare on his brothers for breaking the moment. "We'll discuss it later," he said as a warning, which had Yazoo and Loz quiet just that quickly.

Now fly, my pretties! Fly! Bring me that girl and her ruby slippers! Fly! Fly! Fly!

"Go, and call me if you find anything. You know the number." she said, dropping another soft kiss on Kadaj's hair before moving to Yazoo and Loz, kissing them both as well.
