I can see how they might want some new stuff to work with for a while. And at some point Derek was surely going to get arrested (again) for constantly lurking around the playing fields, heh.
I wasn't holding out much hope for it, but I was wishing we'd get to see some of the girls do sports as well. I'm assuming they get to do more than cheerleading in US schools, but you'd never know it from TV? A mixed lacrosse team would have been a nice thing to see given the sort of universe they want to portray.
Co-ed sports teams in high school are pretty rare here in the U.S., so I'm not surprised that the closest we've gotten to that was the PE class where Erica fell off the climbing wall. It would be nice to see the girls doing something (since they're not even cheerleaders), but I doubt it would be as easy to have guys walking into the girls' locker room as it is to have women walking into the boys' (still totally side-eying you Melissa McCall...).
But, but, but... the coach will stay, right?! I mean, Finstock needs to be there! I need Finstock in my life DDD: I am ridiculously addicted to that guy or as I like to call him - Cupcake.
Basically I really don't mind them switching disciplines, it's rather nice how it makes sense and all, but I can't imagine the show without my favourite coach, that's all. xD
In my limited experience, cross-country is good to keep in running shape, which it seems lacrosse might need.... oh well, as long as there's something to take the place as half the exposition seems to happen in the boy's locker room :)
That's very true, although I would have thought they'd do something more short-form than cross-country, but hey, cross-country gets them out in the middle of nowhere for Alphas to attack easily... *grin*
Random attacks and meeting surly alphas do work in that instance, as well :)
Also, lacrosse strikes me as soccer with sticks....you need to be able to run a loooooooooooooooong time, at various speeds, in soccer.....it's why i suck at actual game play, 'cause my endurance is pitiful, lol *shrug*
