Avril Lavigne Jacking Songs?

I've never been too fond of Avril Lavigne in a whole.

In the lawsuit industry, we find that she has ended up in the hot seat, supposedly stealing a couple of lines from a 1970s group called Rubinoos.  Rofl.

A person on Rubinoos' side claims that the beat, the lyrics, etc, at identical.  I listened to both tunes and there's only one small part of the song that could even be arguably "identical," and just that alone couldn't possibly be enough grounds to sue.  Sounds to me like a group who didn't last long enough in the 70s to claim a pebble in the hall of fame just thought of some way to finally get some money.

Although they are similar;

"Hey, hey, you, you, I want to be your boyfriend."
"Hey, hey, you, you, I don't like your girlfriend."

But if that's the case, the Rubinoos should have been suing other groups years ago.  Remember this line? :

"Hey, hey, you, you.. get into my car!" - Lionel Richie
"Hey, hey, you, you, don't steal my cloud." - Rolling Stones

Not a peep from Rubinoos then!  Why now?  I suppose they're just out of money.

Identical?  Not even.  The Rubinoos song most certainly doesn't sound like a cheerleader song.  The last (and possibly only) cheerleader song I even remember coming out was "Hey Mickey" from Toni Basil.

Maybe Toni should sue as well. She has "Hey" in her title.

There is also some talk about Lavigne stealing a line from the Beatles as well, "Hold me, love me," which both parties use in a song.

Big freaking deal.  That's not stealing, people.  That's how many, many, many songs come about.  If somebody actually took the time to study every single song that has ever came out and THEN tried to write an original tune, I can't imagine how long it would take.

How many songs have "hold you in my arms," or "love you forever," or "for the rest of my life," and this can go on and on...

Sorry Rubinoos, that just isn't good enough.  I hate to admit that your song is much worse than Avril's.  Maybe you're just jealous that she made a better song out of some words of your song.

Anyway, the point is everybody I know has heard Girlfriend, but there isn't a damn person I know that has even heard of the Rubinoos song, and most of them have never even heard of Rubinoos.

That's an epic failure.
