Hi, and welcome to an interlude-y type thing! I was going to put this in with other bits, but it felt kind of good to put it in an interlude. Could I speak any more vaguely? Well, I sort of guess I might be able to.
Well the Landgraab/Larson rotations were so intermingled it's just easier to slot the two together to make it a story. So, who's up for storytime?
Um, I'll maybe plop a warning here for sexual situations? There's a nuddy picture but nothing horrible.
Jodie Larson desired the high life - that was no secret. The high society, the parties, the intrigue... Jodie had always remarked the Jason that she would 'Live fast and die young', with plenty of cash to do so.
It was no coincidence that Jodie had chosen the only available house on Gondola Way to live in when they came to Bluewater. And when Jason was greeted by Malcolm Landgraab himself on his way home from work, well that just meant Jodie's life plan was falling into place.
Jason: 'Whoa... Mr. Landgraab, it's good to meet you.'
Malcolm: 'Well, we are neighbours, aren't we? Only natural.'
Jason: 'Seriously, my sister would love to meet you. She's a massive fan.'
Malcolm: 'Oh really? Well, I'm going to be at Club Dante tonight, sizing up for renovations. Tell her to come see me - let her know the pass phrase to skip the queue is 'Margaret'.
Jason: 'Margaret? Uh... okay.'
Later that evening, Jodie came home from her not-altogether well-paying acting gig for a commercial...
Jodie: 'What is it? I only just got through the door and I really need to put a face mask on before I can deal with anything else.'
Jason: 'Not even... a chance to meet Malcolm Landgraab? That I got you?'
Jodie: 'Wha... M... Landgraab? As in, the Malcolm Landgraab? Where is he?'
Jason: 'Running his club. I have the passphrase to skip the line and everything.'
Naturally, Jodie dashes off in a fit to get ready.
Yet is completely calm and collected by the time she ascends the staircase. Jason's barely had time to fix a snack before he hears movement on the steps, and so comes to see how she dressed.
Jason: 'Jeez, Jodie, you trying to seduce him or something? I thought you just wanted to meet him! And... what is that smell? It's...'
Jodie: 'Just a spritz of love potion. Stuff smells wonderful. Don't look at me like that, I just want to make an impression is all. I need to get going. It might take me all night to... get to know him.'
Jodie: 'Mr. Landgraab, I presume?'
Malcolm: 'Uh... who are you? Not that I'm complaining.'
Jodie: 'Miss Larson. You met my brother earlier. The password 'Margaret'?'
Malcolm: 'Oh right... so you're my neighbour? How did I not notice...'
Jodie: 'Many don't notice me, Mr. Landgraab. It's almost as if there's... a distinct purity about me.'
Malcolm: 'I see lots of things when I look at you, Miss Larson, but purity isn't something that comes to mind.'
Jodie: 'Oh really? I hope all the things that do come to mind are deliciously bad. Would you like to know what I see when I look at you?'
Malcolm: 'I hesitate to ask...'
The breakfast next morning was quiet, but that didn't stop Malcolm from grinning from ear to ear. There was one thing that was bugging him, though.
Malcolm: 'You never told me your first name.'
A pause, while she slowly chewed the food Alfred had prepared earlier.
Jodie: 'It's... just Jodie.'
Malcolm: 'Well, 'Just Jodie', I would very much like to see you again. Very much. I have to go to Twikkii Island to meet a business client, very boring stuff... but that will probably only take an hour and I can stay there for a while... why don't you accompany me?'
A holiday? With Malcolm Landgraab? The night after fervent woohoo over omelettes his childhood butler made in his multi-million simoleon manor? Jodie had to practically stop herself from bursting into a triumphant fist-pump at the table.
Jodie: 'That would be wonderful, Malcolm.'
Jason put up with his sister acting entirely secretive about her night with Malcolm, but she was growing increasingly erratic and when he was woken by bumping and moving in her room at 4am, he had to investigate.
Jodie: 'Ah. I was hoping to leave a note. Though I suppose it does not matter.'
Jason: '... What is going on?'
Jodie: 'Just a little holiday, dear brother. A few days at Twikkii with Malcolm. Sun, sand, sex, sangria, the usual.'
Jason: ''The usual?' With Malcolm Landgraab? Have you gone nuts? You've only known him a little while!'
Jodie: 'Oh, Jason... don't be a bore.'
Jason: 'A... a bore? I... I just can't deal with you, Jodie! You're too reckless and you're going to get hurt!'
Jodie: 'Malcolm isn't going to hurt me dear, he's a sweetheart. If anything, I'll be doing the hurting.'
Jason: 'Jodie... this isn't going to make you happy. Chasing our childhood dreams... childhood dreams are meant to introduce us to reality!'
Jodie: 'Who says? Just because I'm getting serious with someone and you're too scared.'
And with that, Jodie grabbed her bags and hoisted them downstairs.
Malcolm was having a much more peaceful time of preparing for his holiday. Alfred had already packed his summer clothes and suggested he not do anything rash, and the gardener had happily accepted $100 to remember to feed his fish when he came to do his daily rounds.
As Malcolm left his manor, he saw Jodie in the waiting taxi and grinned. He was determined to make this the best summer of his life.
[The following is going to be some picspam. The main thing to keep in mind is Malcolm is stupid, and crazy in love, and those two don't mix well. Especially when Jodie is not in love with Malcolm.]
[Thus concludes the picspam]
She thought it would feel different. But... she wasn't sure how she should feel.
Victorious? Well, it was her plan since she was fourteen.
In a daze? It happened quickly, of course, but it was calculated. She didn't want Malcolm getting cold feet - she tried to ignore her conscience using the word 'manipulate'.
Just... feeling any kind of happiness? Jason's words rang clear in her mind. 'This isn't going to make you happy.'
She told herself she was happy when she could quit her job and spend all day working out in his exclusive, expensive gym.
She told herself she was happy when Malcolm would crawl into bed with her after coming in from running Club Dante.
But she wasn't happy. Everyone could see it, but nobody knew what to do about it. Especially when Jodie Landgraab revealed she was pregnant.
When Jodie initially moved out of the house to go and live with her new husband, Jason was seething. He couldn't make ends meet without Jodie's input (not that she had much input...), and had to resort to drastic measures.
It originally started as a joke while on the phone, but after some time and thought, Jason knew it was the right thing to do.
Dani moved in with Jason, and together they redecorated Jodie's bedroom and 'christened' it.
Dani joined the military for a thrill, but all the red tape was dragging her down. She was considering a less ethical career... perhaps the mafia has an opening?
One positive feature of Jodie moving out is that Jason now has his own music room, whereas before he wasn't allowed. Here, he can write and perform songs of his own.
Which is handy, since Malcolm offered to take him on under Landgraab Industries' music label. Jason is now a professional musician, which means he can kick his 9-5 cubical job.
Now a sedan picks Jason up in the morning, and in a way he thinks that his sister being married to a modern-day Howard Hughes has its advantages...
Now that he has Dani, he doesn't even know why he was so scared to get close before. He's happily in love, and she reciprocates. He doesn't know it, but his relationship is far more stable than his twin's marriage.
Dani tries to get along with Jodie but she's changed so vastly since her wedding. She's withdrawn, aloof, snobbish...
All Dani did was ask her if she wanted to play darts but she refused, snapping 'It's uncivilised.'
Dani: 'She's driving me crazy, but I can't feel angry at her... I mean... I want to like her...'
Jason: 'I know what you mean, honey. She's my sister and I love her, but lately I just want to punch her. I don't know why she keeps acting so uppity when Malcolm is so laid-back.'
Dani: 'I just can't help but worry. She's like family.'
Jason: 'Well... she could actually be family. If you want.'
Dani: 'Are you suggesting what I think you're suggesting, Mr. Larson?'
Jason: 'Only if you say 'Yes' to my suggestion. Otherwise, that's not what I meant at all.'
Dani: 'Well... you're not going to win any 'Proposal of the Year' awards anytime soon.'
Jason: 'Why? Will I have to repeat this?'
Dani: 'Dear plumbob, I hope not. Yes, Jason. I'll marry you.'
And while the happy couple bask in the excitement of their upcoming nuptials, I'll leave you here. I hope you enjoyed this installment of summer, and I hope you come back for more! Thanks for reading!
