Spooky Feeling #37: Coming home to a dark and quiet house where you expect lights and voices.

Random You Know You Are a Cat Mom When... moment:
When you come home (to said dark and quiet house) and one of the cats meets you at the door, follows you into the computer room (where you go to open up eljay like the sad little addict that you are) starts chirping/meowing and you stop what you're doing and ask said feline if he/she is out of food...rising up to head towards food dish...having cat beat you there...and find that said dish is full, but that they can see a patch of the bottom of the other food dish.
Then you add more food to the other dish so that they can no longer see the bottom and meet a second cat coming in as you're leaving the room to go back to your computer.

Yes, back from the Yeti meeting. Mom and Dad are both asleep (hence the dark and quiet house) and it was Kuri (aka Little Girl, aka Princess since she's the only female cat we have...indoors) that met me at the door and followed me into the computer room, trilling like she'd lost me in the dark & was hungry...
Silly Kitten.
And, since I've been writing this she's wandered back into the computer room & trilling at me again...presumably for some attention. The other chair in the room was moved to the living room while I was away or she'd probably be in it right now rather than sitting on the floor. As I told some people at the office where I temped for a few months this past winter/spring...I don't have kids, I have cats. They're usually the only ones that I'll drop just about anything for at any moment to 'talk' to or offer a quick scratch of the head or back to when I get deeply into doing something.
Is that sad?

And the current wildlife count looking out the back door?
2 Feral cats and 9 raccoons...
O_O
I went to double check and there were only 8 because I think one of them ran off when I turned the light on to see who the cats where watching outside...a second one started running off while I had the light on the second time.
