The chapter right before this one was so intense, I had a really hard time with this one. So I'm very, very glad you enjoyed this. There were a lot of things I needed to get into something more calm and peaceful for the boys, so it had to be done... but it was harder than I wanted it to be.

How hard can it be? If you hadn't just told us that Shunsui's never had to take care of kids, it'd be blindingly obvious just from that. Not just any kids, either, Kisuke, Yoruichi and Kuukaku. That poor, poor tactics class.

I'm starting to get a nasty suspicion about that Shunsui's constant romantic entanglements are in large part due to a subconscious reaction to not having an emotional safety net. From here, it looks like Daisuke-san isn't the only one who can't be alone. But, I'm probably reading too much into things yet again.

And thank you for providing further support for my theory that Ukitake could rule the world if he wanted it. He's helping to revolutionize the use of kidou in combat from a hospital bed? Good lord, that's an overachiever. *grin* Excellent chapter, as always, m'dear.

Mmm... yeah... I see him as still really needing outside reassurance in a lot of ways. I have plans on showing why in a few chapters.

Hee. Ukitake would shrug, but it's Hoshiko's work, not mine! She's doing the hard research and trials, measuring and testing... not me. Give someone hard work they feel useful at and they'll just get more useful... I think that's really Ukitake's view of power.

I swear, the only reason this whole Aizen nonsense got so out of hand is because Ukitake is too damned noble to use his powers of earnestness for--erm, the suppression of evil. Right. *grin* Kidding. Still, it cracks me up that he just effortlessly winds people around his finger without even knowing it. He's kinda like Ichigo in that way.
